If you love good music for kids and families, and if you have been paying attention, then you may have heard about “Smiles Ahead,” a new album from a new company. Mighty Mo Productions, as I have mentioned here before, is a group of people dedicated to bring the best kindie music out there to the widest group of people. Their opening salvo is a compilation album called “Smiles Ahead,” and I recently picked a few tracks off it to showcase here at Tenor Dad. The Pop-Ups, Grenadilla, and even The Verve Pipe (?!) contribute some of our favorite tracks. But there are way too many to feature! Caspar Babypants (who we have featured before), Rissi Palmer (What? The awesome country singer? Yup!), and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo are all on there too. Plus one of our very favorite groups in the world.
I was thiiiiiiiis close to choosing the Okee Dokee Brothers track “Walking With Spring” to feature on my last go-round with “Smiles Ahead,” but because I was also featuring two whole other ODB albums (no, not that ODB), I skipped it at the time. Now seems like a better moment to talk about it.
I asked Jim Cosgrove, the Chief Groove Officer at Mighty Mo (and another musical dad), why he chose that particular ODB track to feature on this first compilation album, and he said “The Okee Dokee Brothers’ music just feels great. And there’s nothing better than the hope and promise of a walk in the woods in springtime after a long, cold winter. Now, that makes me smile.” He’s right, you know. And since you are now in the mood for some exciting Okee Dokee Brothers exclusive information, I am happy to report that I can now announce the title of their upcoming album, chronicling their month of riding the range, out in the American midwest along the continental divide. This new album, the follow up to “Can You Canoe” and “Through the Woods,” will be called: “Saddle Up – A Western Adventure Album” and will release on May 20th, 2016.
