So, The Met Hired Me

One complaint I have heard from people regarding my online presence is that they often hear of auditions I am doing, but never hear if I got the gig or not.  Well, let me tell you, the answer is “not.”  At least as a general rule.  And it is my policy to not post online details of who I am auditioning for, because the last thing I need is for me to post on Facebook “Man, the auditions are running way behind at such and such opera company” and then not get hired by them because I publicly insulted their time management skills.

I also will not post details online about who has hired me, until I have a signed contract in my hand, because really you never know, and also, again, the last thing I need is to lose a contract because somebody thinks I am being presumptuous.  But mostly I never post details online about who has hired me because nobody has, in fact, hired me.  However, I would like to share my latest contract with you.

For those of you who are following my career with great interest (i.e., my wife), I am very pleased to announce that I have received my contract to cover the role of the novice in Billy Budd next season with The Metropolitan Opera.  And if anybody else ever hires me after that, I swear I will tell you as soon as possible.
