My regular readers, along with anyone who has ever met me for more than three seconds, is aware that I am somewhat afflicted with ADHD, and that it often wreaks havoc on my personal life, in terms of general distractability, forgetfulness, and bouncing hypersplosions. But what many of you may not realize is the toll that it takes on my professional life as well. Friends and family are more likely to forgive my, shall we say, quirks, than a potential employer. And when you are mostly freelance, it is vital that you are organized, meet deadlines, know what state your audition is in, and have it together in an major way. These are things that I am terrible at.
To illustrate just how debilitating this condition is to a singer, I am releasing this previously unseen audition video, which I do at the risk of great professional embarrassment, but which I feel is necessary, in order to showcase the special needs of ADHD singers everywhere. If this video can help even one person to understand us a little better, then it will be worth it.

Adam – I think this is brilliant. (Were you supposed to be watching the kids?)
No, although I think I’m supposed to be watching them right now instead of checking out my blog…
I LOVE this! Was Simone your videographer? This was hilarious! Totally took my bad mood and upended it. 🙂 Thank you!
Also–you made me decide to take an ADD quiz. We always called it flakiness, but after seeing your video, I was wondering. And yep. I don’t have the H, but I most likely have the ADD. 🙂
