Edward’s Words: A Matching Game

Now that Edward has started speaking in full sentences and his word count is exploding, we are no longer worried about his speech delay.  He seems to be catching up well, and communicating nicely.  This does not mean, however, that you will always know what he is saying.  Like most two-year-olds, Edward has his own personal way of speaking, and if you are not used to it there is a possibility that you may be confused.  To help you figure out what he might be saying, I have put together a fun matching game for you.  Try to match what he is trying to say with what he really means!

WHAT EDWARD SAYS           WHAT EDWARD MEANS

1) Conan                                    A) Coffee

2) Stink Baby                             B) Any Other Beverage That Is Not Water or Milk

3) Owl                                        C) Insect

4) Mama’s Yuck                         D) Every Object on Earth

5) Fire Truck                              E) Our Neighbor Coen

6) My (Edward’s) Bed                F) The Car Is Too Hot

7) Coke                                      G) Squirrel

8) Mine                                       H) My (Tenor Dad’s) Bed

9) Bee/Bug                                 I) His Cousin Marina

10) I’m Gonna Die                     J) Anything With a Siren

If you can correctly answer these questions (and no peeking at the answers!), then you have a good chance of being able to carry on a meaningful conversation with my two-year-old.  We would also be interested in your babysitting services.  Call me!
