Shhhhhhhh! Stop clicking so loudly! You’ll wake him up! This is the rarest of rare opportunities. In fact, for all my know this could be the last time ever. But at this very moment, my son is actually taking a nap!
I’m not sure how it happened, and I don’t want to jinx it, but he is currently sleeping right next to me and I am afraid to move. So I’m not going to. I’m just going to lie here and write.
I was very tired out from the field trip I was on all day, but I didn’t think he would actually let me sleep! When he suggested that we play “nap” I figured I would get as much sleep as every other time we have played “nap,” meaning approximately negative two hours. And yet before I knew it, I was out cold on his bed with the dog lying on top of me.
I must have been asleep for about twenty minutes, and when I woke up I looked over and saw him curled up next to me, fast asleep himself! A miracle! And now I am going to sit here silently, unmoving, for as long as I can, soaking in this perfect moment. It might be the last one I get.
