I hope this does not sound like bragging, because it really isn’t. I mean, I know I just told you about the unbelievably amazing contest I won, for which we received an original drawing of Edward destroying a restaurant, but it has happened again. Not the restaurant destruction. Well, okay, that has happened again, but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about a second contest that has landed me yet another piece of paper that needed framing.
Dads 4 Change, which is an organization that supports a ton of great causes (check out their website if you want to see them all!), had partnered with non-profit humanitarian group A Walk on Water (They do surf therapy for kids with special needs! How cool is that?!) to do a twitter contest, and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, co-creator of Phineas & Ferb, was doing the giving away. You see Swampy is a huge supporter of AWOW, and he offered to do an original signed sketch for Dads 4 Change, and all we had to do was to tweet about it using a special hashtag. So I got tweeting.
I tweeted my support for the ending of the greatest cartoon in the history of the known universe, and it even inspired me to write my own goodbye post to the music of the show, which I also tweeted to them. And I won! They picked a tweet at random, and I won! I just got the most exciting package ever in the mail, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you! Here’s what is now hanging on my wall!
And if that wasn’t enough, the amazing Whit Honea, who writes over at The Honea Express (Because Honea rhymes with “pony.” Yeah, you were pronouncing it wrong.) as well as helping to run Dads 4 Change, sent me his book along as part of the prize, in addition to Mike Adamick’s cookbook, pre-bookmarked to the recipe that Whit contributed of course. In other words, I’ve got some reading, eating, and admiring to do, thanks to a bunch of awesome people who are way cooler than me, and they all have my gratitude.
If you have been feeling like you need to contribute something back to the world today, check out Whit and Dads 4 Change, or head on over to A Walk on Water. There are people and causes to support, and they could use the extra set of hands.
